Pineanimals
Acrylic and paint marker on illustration board
The concept for this concentration was to integrate aspects of a pineapple into animals appearances. As I brainstormed for this piece I noticed how many animals shared the similarities with a pineapple, and used that as my inspiration. I wanted these pieces to not only show the similarities, but to show how the pineapple has become the animal. I decided to use texture to achieve this, seeing how pineapples have a very sharp texture. Sponge painting is the technique I used to go about this. I believe it had the desired effect that I aimed for. To explore into how I could capture the pineapples energy, I started by sketching a pineapple. Cutting the pineapple helped me to see the full amount of texture that the fruit encompasses. Further exploring how I could use texture I looked at the painting Water Lilies by Claude Monet. His work helped to give me a basis for how I should use texture in my artwork.
